Why Edit Photo Dates?
Photo dates and times are stored in EXIF metadata and are used by photo management apps to sort and organise your library. When these dates are wrong — due to incorrect camera clock settings, timezone differences, or metadata loss during file transfers — your photos end up in the wrong order.
This tool lets you correct or add date and time metadata directly in the EXIF data. Whether you're fixing timestamps from a camera with the wrong clock, adding dates to scanned photos, or adjusting for timezone changes after travel, the corrected metadata will be recognised by Google Photos, Apple Photos, Lightroom, and other software.
- Correct wrong camera clock settings or timezone differences
- Add dates to scanned photos or images that lost their metadata
- Ensure photos sort chronologically in Google Photos, Apple Photos, and Lightroom
Frequently Asked Questions
What photo formats are supported?
The Photo Date & Time Editor supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and HEIF image formats. HEIC and HEIF are the default formats used by iPhones and iPads.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Your photos never leave your browser. All EXIF reading and writing happens locally on your device.
What EXIF fields are modified?
The tool updates DateTimeOriginal, DateTimeDigitized, and DateTime (ModifyDate) in the EXIF metadata.
What date format should I use?
Enter dates in DD-MM-YYYY format (e.g., 21-08-2026) and time in HH:MM 24-hour format (e.g., 14:30). You can also use the built-in date picker.
Why would I need to edit photo dates?
Common reasons include: correcting wrong camera clock settings, adjusting timezone differences after travel, organising scanned photos with their original dates, or fixing dates lost during file transfers.
Does this work with iPhone HEIC photos?
Yes. The tool converts HEIC photos to JPEG for processing and embeds the date/time in the EXIF metadata of the output file.
