Why Use a Photo Blur Tool?
Before sharing photos online or with others, it's important to protect sensitive information. Faces, license plates, addresses, document details, and other private data can be hidden with pixelation, an irreversible technique that replaces regions with averaged color blocks.
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded to a server, making it safe for sensitive images. The original file is never modified. You always download a new copy.
- Hide faces, license plates, addresses, or sensitive text before sharing
- 100% browser-based, photos never leave your device
- Adjustable pixel block size for fine or coarse blurring

Frequently Asked Questions
What photo formats does the blur tool support?
The photo blur tool supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and HEIF image formats. The blurred photo is downloaded as a JPEG file.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Your photos never leave your browser. All processing, including pixelation and file download, happens locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
Does this modify my original photo?
No. Your original file is never modified. When you download, you get a new copy with the blurred areas applied. Your original remains untouched.
Can I blur multiple areas on one photo?
Yes. On desktop, click Apply to commit one blurred area, then move the selection square to another area and apply again. On mobile, simply touch and drag over multiple areas.
What is the difference between blur and pixelation?
This tool uses pixelation (mosaic effect), which replaces regions with averaged color blocks. Unlike Gaussian blur, pixelation is a one-way process that makes the original content completely unrecoverable. Ideal for hiding sensitive information.
